and their effect Handpans

A Handpan allows you to produce clear and pure tones by hand. These tones have a very relaxing and calming effect on people. Since the Handpan emits soothing sounds, it is perfect to be combined wih other meditative instruments, such as a Wavedrum.

How to play

To play the Handpan, it is positioned on the lap. Tones or chords can be produced simply by striking one or more tone fields with the flat of the hand.

There are no limits to the playing technique, which means that new combinations and sequences can be played over and over again. There are no wrong notes on the Handpan. Due to the very easy handling and the intuitive way of playing, you will quickly feel successful.

This makes the Handpan a perfect instrument, also for players without previous musical experience.

Sensory Handpans

Stainless steel

Meinl Sonic Energy Sensory Handpans are handmade in China from stainless steel. This material is characterized by a long vibration time, a full sound and a high sensitivity in the attack. Further, stainless steel is known to be virtually water and moisture resistant.

Different variants and tunings

Meinl Sonic Energy Sensory Handpans have nine or ten tone fields and are available in the tunings D Kurd (with either nine or ten tones) and D Amara (nine tones).

Resonant holes

Another special feature of Meinl Sonic Energy's Sensory series are the two resonance holes on the bottom of the Handpan. These are arranged so that one points towards the player and the other towards the audience.
